Blepharoplasty: your eyelid surgery in Turkey
What is a blepharoplasty? It is an eyelid surgery that allows to repair certain signs of aging that cause sagging skin, and that especially affect the eye contour and the upper and lower eyelids, creating wrinkles and furrows. In addition, when facial muscles relax, fatty tissue can move generating the so-called eye bags.
To solve these aesthetic problems, at Clinicana we use several techniques in our Istanbul clinic with which we get to remove skin and excess of fat from the eyelids, making the face regain its youthful appearance. In fact, this is one of the most demanded interventions by both men and women from the age of 45.

How much is blepharoplasty? The eyelid surgery cost will depend not just on the technique used and the area to be treated, but also on the clinic chosen and the country where the intervention is going to be carried out.
For example, a blepharoplasty in London may cost between £3,000 and £7,000, or even more depending of if additional surgeries are needed; besides, a lower blepharoplasty cost is normally bigger than the cost of an upper blepharoplasty. Non surgical blepharoplasty, is it possible?
There are mainly 3 types of eyelid surgery that can be carried out for aesthetic reasons. We speak of upper blepharoplasty when we remove the excess skin that causes droopy eyelid, while in a lower lid blepharoplasty we seek to eliminate the accumulation of fat in the lower eyelid that generates eye bags. Finally, in a double eyelid surgery both problems are corrected.
Besides, we also speak of 3 types of blepharoplasty depending on the technique used in the surgery:
Traditional blepharoplasty:
This technique uses the traditional scalpel together with an electric scalpel.
Eyelid surgery with laser:
These types of interventions normally use a CO2 laser, very effective in treating wrinkles and scars or to rejuvenate skin.
Non surgical blepharoplasty:
This can also include the use of lasers (e.g. laser resurfacing), in addition to the use of radio frequencies, ultrasound, intense pulsed light (IPL), or the injection of products used in cosmetic surgery, such as hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, vitamins, lipids, etc.
Blepharoplasty recovery: when will I see the results?
How long does it take for eyelid surgery to heal? Well, an eyelid surgery is a simple surgical procedure that is performed under general anaesthesia, and it usually lasts 1 or 2 hours depending on each case. Surgeons work by making incisions in the natural folds of the skin to remove excess of tissue or fat: so, no visible scars will prevail on patient's face.
Once the intervention is over, patient must remain under observation for at least one day, and after this time, he/she can return home, being able to resume normal life after about four days. It may be necessary to take painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs during this period.
From the second week on, the results of the operation begin to became visible, and from the second month on, the final appearance of the face is obtained. As for the duration of the effects of a blepharoplasty, it must be emphasized that, being a surgical intervention, the results obtained will last for many years; however, it may happen that the natural aging process requires a second intervention after 15 to 20 years.
Since a blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that is performed on the face close to the eye, an eyelid surgery requires great skills and experience by the surgeon to carry it out, so it is essential to choose skilled professionals and a reputed clinic with all guarantees.
